June is Pride Month

Pride Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. It is celebrated in June to commemorate the Stonewall uprisings in June of 1969.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa (BBBSCI), we defend the potential of ALL youth and welcome ALL Bigs. It is important that we acknowledge the hardships that the LGBTQ+ community faces on a daily basis. At BBBSCI, we are working hard to offer knowledge, encourage acceptance, and defend potential. Celebration and inclusion are our top priorities, and we strive to be part of the solution.
