Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa Receives $2,000 Grant from Bayer Fund

Donation to help fund Workplace Mentoring Program.

DES MOINES, IA / 7-9-2020 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa announced today it received a grant for $2,000 from Bayer Fund, which will be used to fund the Workplace Mentoring Program.

“We are very grateful to receive this grant from the Bayer Fund,” said Renee Hardman, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa. “This grant helps us connect middle school youth with business professionals through our Workplace Mentoring Program. This program helps our youth work toward graduating high school and prepare for the future, whether that is college or work.”

This grant will not only provide support to our organization, but also the community we serve by allowing us to create and support 1:1 mentoring relationships between middle school youth and business professionals at our Workplace Mentoring sites: Wells Fargo, Principal, NCMIC, IMT Insurance, and GuideOne Insurance.

“Throughout the years, the grants given through Bayer Fund have helped strengthen our communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “We’re proud to be able to provide support to develop programs that help combat challenges such as food insecurity, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and support services to patients and families managing an illness or disease.”

In 2019, Bayer Fund awarded more than $14 million to over 3,200 charitable and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in food and nutrition, STEM education and community development. Over the last five years, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $79 million.
