Workplace Mentoring

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa partners with local businesses for Workplace Mentoring. Middle school students from partner schools travel to the business partners’ offices to meet with mentors bi-weekly on early out Wednesdays during the school year.

Youth get exposure to a professional work environment and work on college and career exploration, skill development and building their relationship with their Big by just having fun and getting to know each other. This program encourages youth to begin envisioning the possibilities for their future while providing friendship and support through those difficult transition years of middle school.

For the 2018/2019 school year, the following local businesses are partnering with local middle schools for Workplace Mentoring:

  • Callanan Middle School and Principal
  • Harding Middle School and NCMIC Group, Inc.
  • Hiatt and Hoyt Middle Schools and Marsh/Mercer
  • Merril Middle School and Wells Fargo

This program is made possible through funding from Marsh/Mercer; NCMIC Group, Inc.; Wells Fargo and Prairie Meadows.
