Big Sister Arlene Anderson and Little Sister Zami have been matched since October 2018 as part of BBBSCI’s Workplace Mentoring program at Principal Financial Group. Zami excels in the college and career preparation curriculum at Workplace Mentoring with guidance from Arlene.
Fencing is a hobby that Arlene and Zami have bonded over. Arlene’s interest in fencing persuaded her and Zami to sign up for Workplace Mentoring Plus, so they could take fencing classes together. Zami really enjoyed the first few practices and now they attend weekly fencing practice. They were in a tournament in January and got paired up against each other. Arlene won the matchup but Zami was scored points on people well above her skill level.
