For more than three years, Nichole and Jake Johnson along with their two children, Mack and Savi, have shown what true mentoring legacy looks like. From day one of their match with Carsten in September 2022, they have been a constant, steady presence—showing up month after month, often going above and beyond what’s expected of a Big Family Match.

Sterling has been an active and dedicated volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa since 2018, when he was first matched with Little Brother Adebayor. Their match lasted an impressive five years, continuing until Adebayor graduated from high school in 2023—a testament to Sterling’s commitment and consistency. In recognition of his impact, Sterling was honored as Big Brother of the Year in 2021.
